//Case Study: Full Fibre Haringey

Our brief

To connect just over 15,000 homes to Full Fibre internet with residents having a choice of providers before the analogue switch off (currently pencilled in for 2027 by the government). The project is expected to run over 4 years.

Our approach

  • The project is run by one project manager, who liaises with various departments within the borough of Haringey including the communication and marketing teams, Regeneration, build architects, community support workers, admin central, and housing officers. The project manager represents the voice of Haringey Council with the providers to ensure that surveys and plans are drawn according to Haringey’s specific requirements and within budget. They organise and schedule any priority blocks due to receive Full Fibre installation and distribute these and the remaining blocks quarterly to all providers (ensuring there are no duplicated installations).
  • Mantralis’ teams assist the project managers in ensuring all builds are scheduled accurately to avoid any crossovers with other build projects and ensure all legislation regarding Health and Safety are met (this includes checking certificates and tickets for site workers, checking for valid and up-to-date insurance documents and addressing any issues or anomalies that may occur).
  • The project manager will liaise with department heads throughout the build and sign-off process with emails, meetings, and face-to-face site visits.
  • Our project managers and Mantralis support team ensure all handover documents are received (and they are correct) before collaborating all files together to ensure a smooth handover to the Council at the end of the project. These include surveys, Health and Safety documents, Asbuilds, contact for technicians or maintenance, and a main project manager contact for each provider.

The solution

Currently, at just over one year into the project life, there have successfully been over 5500 homes that are now connected to Full Fibre internet services, with many having a choice of suppliers already.

Social values agreed upon during the Wayleave signing process are starting to be delivered and local residents are now benefitting from these. Examples include free or discounted packages for families who may be at risk of being digitally excluded, free connections to community hubs and centres, as well as delivery of digital workshops to help improve skills and knowledge of using devices, apps and programmes associated with every day life.
